I took two pregnancy tests today, both read positive even though one line is fainter than the other! I had some bleeding last week what lasted for about one week. It was much lighter than a period and i had no pain- i just presumed that it was a period. Am really worried and confused. Do you think it could be a false positive. I've had three miscarriages before and am worried i could be having another one. HELP!

First off you need to take a deep breath and relax. Yes it is stressful and worrisome. However getting stressed out is not going to do you or your baby any good.

What you experienced last week could, only could, have been implantation bleeding. Some women, in rare cases, have been known to have 1-2 periods during their first months of pregnancy. Even rare still others have reported having their period during their entire pregnancy.

One of the big things you need to worry about when bleeding while pregnant is if it is red (or what the doctors call new) blood. For other women they have brown blood spotting, and the doctors call this "old blood" and generally do not worry.

For your own piece of mind you need to seek prenatal care immediately, make sure that your tests were not incorrect (false positives can happen for various hormonal reasons such as ovarian cysts and tumors). Furthermore, you need to have your HCG levels drawn via blood test, this is the hormone pregnant women have in their bodies and what pregnancy tests look for. As long as that level is doubling in the first 48-72 hours of pregnancy that is a good sign the pregnancy is progressing as it should. Also they will prescribe, or suggest an over the counter, prenatal vitamin. These vitamins are important to your body more than they are to the baby, because mother nature has a fail safe built in. Meaning that whatever the baby needs it will get from your body first before it allows the baby to go without (this is especially the case with Calcium).

Keeps us posted on how things go. Wishing you a safe and healthy pregnancy.
