My periods have also been lasting more than 7 days- more like 2 weeks of wearing pads!!!!! ugh- i'm getting tired of this. and i have been passing a lot of clot- large clots, i've been really really worried. i doubt i will see the ob this time- waste of time and money and i never get an answer. i keep been told it's all normal |

Hello I am 24 years old and I have been getting blood cloths for a while now, first I was scared and not sure of what it was and I didn't understand it than I did my research online, including this website and had a better understanding, and was less worried. I first saw the same thing, like chunky boogery, slimy red blood discharge coming out and it was nasty, I was confused as I everyone else here, almost... I also have really bad pains the first three days and than it's cools down a little, not to mention joint... muscle pain... extremely heavy cramps... breast tenderness... acne... Diarrhea... feeling tired... trouble concentrating or remembering... tension, irritability, mood swings, and crying spells... Basically its like a bad dream... Nightmare... Call it whatever you want I feel like sometimes I just want to disappear. |

Recently I've had the same problem with clots, heavy bleeding, bleeding lasting 2-3 weeks, etc. After visiting my regular MD she told me it was stress because my PAP was normal. Not satisfied with this answer I went to my Gynocologist and she diagnosed me with a low thyroid AND polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
The treatment given to me is Levothyroxine for my low thyroid and YAZ birthcontrol to help with the PCOS. I have been taking this combination since the beginning of the year and thankfully have had no problems.
My period is light-medium and lasts about 3-4 days. I experience some cramping a some small, NORMAL clotting.
When I was having heavy bleeding I visited the ER at one point and was told to take a combination of Tylenol - for cramping and ibuprofen - which would help with the bleeding. They said it was OK to take both at once, and it did help. But be sure to see a gynocologist because they deal with these problems exclusively and in my opinion can diagnose the real problem behind menstrual issues. |

I know exactly what you're going through, I get every single problem you do and I get so tired and hurt that I can't get any housework done (I'm only 23 years old) I wish someone could find out why this happens to us so I can tell my husband why it's so hard for me to do the housework when it hurts this badly |

I personally think doctors these days have no idea what they are talking about.
I'm anemic and have been having heavy heavy blood flows that make me faint and all they are are just HUGE blood clots that are the size of golf balls, i went to the doctors and they told me i was perfectly healthy, perfectly healthy my butt, I wouldn't be this way if i was perfectly healthy. |

| I also have had the same symptoms and I have severe endometrosis....its not fun and the doctor needs to do a laposcopic exam to check for this. I luckly was able to have two boys but mine didn't get severe until after my second child was born. We tried for a third child and I was unable to get pregnant and thats when they found it. I had a mild case of it until then and after birth it rapidly grew. I have had two surgeries since then to remove endometrial tumors in my overies. my latest period was so bad with blood clots I bought small diapers because the pads were not wide enough. I know i am getting graphic but I am telling you guys its not a fun situation and its one that does get worse over time and a hystorecomy is not an option my doctor wants to do right now. But i do think its going to be an option here in the next year or so, because i can't keep going through this. |

|
|
| So I am 20 years old. I have had my period since i was 13. It was pretty regular in my first couple years. But ever since around when i was 16-17 they are totally irregular! Sometimes i will go 4 months without one, but then i will get it very heavy for like 3 weeks! And when i mean heavy, i mean it. It can soak through the highest absorbency tampon in 10 minutes! and a pad in about one hour. It gets so bad sometime i will wear two pads to bed! IS this normal? Has anyone else had this happen? I am too scared to go to the doctors to get a vaginal exam or anything like that because i am overweight and very self conscience. Help! |

Okay So I've like just been through most of the things you are desribing. And been misdiagnosed with everything until nine months ago.
If you are having irregular periods then you could just have polycycstic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). This actually makes it hard to control your weight and means that your cycles aren't the same from month to month. Excess body hair is another sign of the condition. There's a bunch of things you can try and going on the pill is a good way to get your cycles running.
The other thing that could be causing the clots is Fibroids. These are benign growths in the uterus that most women have and don't realise until they get pregnant and they're noted on the scan. They cause the surface area of your utuers to increase and therefore you produce more blood. Clots are an indicator that a woman may have these.
I would recommend you see someone as in my case the fibroids distorted the shape of my uterus and stopped the blood being able to flow out. It would build up inside me (I was having terrible pain as I was bleeding into my abdomen) and then sometimes when I changed position it would unblock and everything would come out in one go with terrible cramps - nice huh. It was horrible to happen but I wish I'd seen someone at your age and put a stop to it all. I just had five fibroids taken out and I totally have my life back. You're body is the only thing you'll ever own and if it makes you feel better I'm so totally not a stick thin model! Go see your doctor and get your life back. |
