I am 21 years old woman. I am sexually active and recently I have noticed blood clotty discharge. First I thought that it was my period, but I was wrong. Can you tell me what this could be?
I suppose you know that I can not diagnose you like this. That is why you need to go to your doctor as soon as possible and seek professional help. However, I will try to tell you some information about possible causes. Fluid flows out of the vagina each day, carrying out old cells that have lined the vagina. This way your vagina is healthy and clean and the discharge is usually clear or milky and doesn't smell bad. There are some changes that signal that something is wrong. They include an increase in the amount of discharge, a change in the color or smell of the discharge and irritation. Also, itchiness or burning in or around your vagina is a sigh of changes. This is called vaginitis. In order to know what has caused your condition, visit your doctor so that you can get proper treatment.
