I would like to know if this problem (bright streaks of blood in stool) will correct itself and if so how long?

Any time you have blood in your stool or green stools, you should go to the emergency room. It may be rough stools scraping against the skin, causing it to bleed, but you want to make sure that everything is okay. Get yourself to the hospital.
