Hi. I have blood in my urine. I was pissing blood for a day and the next day it was all gone. My doc says there is no infection. However, the blood has returned. What could this mean? Should I go for a second opinion?

Hi. I would definitely go for a second opinion. Blood in the urine is an alarm. Pain is something I can handle and control, but blood means something is really wrong. Blood in your urine could be caused by conditions such as infection, or stones in the kidney or bladder. My uncle had blood in his urine and he was diagnosed with a kidney stone. Blood in the urine is also a sign of bladder cancer, so called haematuria. People with cancer of the bladder usually have blood in the urine. It occurs suddenly, without pain. It is usually present for a day and then it disappears. However, it will come back. Some people with bladder cancer have UTI-like symptoms, such as burning pain when urinating and a frequent urge to urinate.
