breathing issues with Amyotrophic Sclerosis

Hi, my father has Amyotrophic Sclerosis, and has difficulties breathing. Are there any options to help him breathing, since I’a afraid his condition will only get worse and finally become a breathing failure?

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a degenerative disease affecting the motor nerves, what leads to respiratory muscle weakness. Lungs lose their ability to move air in and out, and breathing failure develops. Respiratory weakness needs to be related with mechanical ventilation to enable breathing. Nasal ventilation is a noninvasive technique in which a portable ventilator is responsible for delivering positive pressure air through the nose, into the lungs and inflates the lungs. Long plastic tubing attached to a nasal interface is used to deliver air to the lungs.
