My son was assulted and his jaw was broken in two places. He went to ER, then had surgery. On one side they placed a plate, the other they left alone and wired his jaws shut.

It's been a week, and the side with the plate looks normal, but the other side still has a lot of swelling. Is this normal? Or should he see dr before his scheduled visit in 3 weeks.
