I have a brother who had slight fever, but some strange pain in his testicles. He explained it as sensation of heaviness. I found it strange, and after awhile when his condition was not improving, I told him to visit a doctor. He realized this is necessary, and get diagnosis of epididymitis. Can you tell us more about this condition and is there something important we should know?

First, you need to be informed the epididymis is a series of small tubes, attached to the back of each testicle. Its role is to collects and stores sperm in male organism. One of the most common causes of scrotal pain is epididymitis. This is infection and subsequent inflammation of these coiled tubes, which is common situation. Epididymo-orchitis occurs when the infection spreads to include patient’s testicle. I have to tell you that epididymitis is usually a secondary bacterial infection that is triggered by a range of conditions. For example, those triggers are urinary tract infections or sexually transmitted diseases. The bacteria in the urethra simply backtrack through the urinary and reproductive structures to the epididymis, causes this problem. Treatment options include antibiotics and bed rest, while some men develop chronic epididymitis. This condition is characterized by inflammation even when there is no infection. Symptoms of epididymitis are slight fever, chills, and sensation of heaviness in the affected testicle as your brother experienced.
