can promethazine be given in a picc line?

My father is in a hospital right now, where he awaits to be operated on. His right leg was severely damaged in the car accident that happened yesterday. He is not in a critical condition, but the operation is necessary. Anyway, doctor said that he will be given a lot of promethazine after the surgery in order to prevent the pain. Can promethazine be given in a picc line?

It is quite possible that he will be given that drug in such way. Promethazine has a large variety of effects, including dealing with allergy symptoms, subduing the pain while the operation is performed and afterwards. It also prevents motion sickness and can induce light sleep. Whether he will take Promethazine via picc line or in some other way, I guess it would depend on his condition after the surgery.
