ive tried to ween off zyprexa 3 times and each time i didnt last 2 days without my full 15 mg dosage, i just cannot fall asleep AT ALL, i really want off this med because i am having bad side effects from it but ive been on it 3 years, i already got off seroquel cold turkey (200 mg) and amazingly it fixed a bunch of problems i was having while on it, which i never would have known if i had not got off it in the first place....the side effects i am having on zyprexa i did not know it was the zyprexa until i searched on the net for some side effects of it and people were having the same effects that i am, for example being confused on the outside while inside you are thinking completely rational, that happens to me a whole lot, i slur my words a lot, and i seem confused to everyone else on the outside but on the inside i am thinking completely normal, i just cant seem to get the thoughts on the outside...is there a good sleep med that i can get on while im going thru these zyprexa withdrawals? something that isnt longterm ?

I have bipolar disorder, I was on Zyprexa and then switched to seroquel. In between the two my psychatrist always gave me Benadryl no more than 50 mg at night. Benadryl is so safe we give it to babies and dogs without a problem. Sometimes it does give you a bit of a hangover effect though. A little coffee in the morning always fixes that.
