I have 14 years old daughter and something very strange to me (as a parent) happened. I caught her masterbating. This is embarrassing enough for me to write, do not wanna mention how it would be talking to her. This happened yesterday and we avoid meeting since then… |

This is very delicate situation for both of you, parent and a child. But you must understand your daughter is growing up and she is going to masturbate, not only that she is going to have intimate relationships, sex, whatever you want to call it with boys, and maybe girls. You must accept this! She is a person who is developing from a child into a grown up person, that needs that part of life in order to be totally mentally satisfied.
You must make the first step… prove that you are a good parent and a wise one! Tell your daughter to use condoms if she’ll have a sexual relationship. Tell her to bring her boyfriend home first, that you would like to meet him… Or you can act as the thing is forgotten and you didn’t even notice it. Then again, you can talk to her and tell her that you did the same things : ) I know this might sound impossible, but this is life… we all masturbate

| Masturbation is normal. I am also 14 and I do it almost everyday. Try buying her a vibrator so she doesn't stick markers inside her. |

Mech, I'm Fifteen, and I constantly try to get something off the web to help. Life would be MUCh more easier if parents wouldn't be scurring up and down the stairs and moving into our rooms.

| HAHA!! Classic. While I find the ethics behind giving a 14 year old a vibrator or any sex toy a bit off, I would rather give a girl one of those than have her get into a sexual relationship to early. The choice is yours really. I believe it is better to confront her and be ok with it. Next thing she has a guilty complex and fears the consequences of you finding out and developes insecurities. |

| I agree with on buying her the vibrator it will let her know that she dosent have to hurry up and have sex with a boy to fufill her "needs" or hormones as a young teen...kids talk and the one thier always gonna hear is "masterbation is nothing the real thing" so the vibratior will keep her from needing the real thing so fast |

Hi. As a parent myself, I that that you should sit down with your daughter and talk about this. Let her know that this is as uncomfortable for you as it is for her to discuss that way she knows it is hard on you too.
You also need to set some boundaries with her. She is becoming a women before your eyes and she will require more and more privacy as she gets older. See what her ideas are as far as this goes. Should you be knocking before entering her room and waiting for her to invite you in...yes I think so at this age.
Best of Luck! |

I dont see any reason for a parent to be supplying a vibrator for her young teen daughter. We're oversexualizing our daughters enough as it is. SHe's obviously doing okay without parental help. If you must discuss it with her - and I dont see why you have to - then just let her know that it's okay and natural and not to freak out about it.
Please dont buy your kid a vibrator. That's just way too creepy. |

| I wouldn't buy her a vibrator because that's creepy for a parent to do in my opinion too... I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. I would just ask her if she has anything that she wants to talk to you about or any questions and tell her not to feel ashamed that that's something that everyone does and it's just a part of growing up. I wouldn't make her feel ashamed about it because if you do it's just going to make her feel humiliated and not want to be open with you. |
