I suffered from neck stiffness which I thought was caused because of the position of my head when I am at work. When the numbness sensation in the hands started I went to see neurologist. He sent me to do MRI. He set diagnose after MRI. It was cervical spondylotic myelopathy. He left me without treatment. He said that we should wait for some time and see. I don’t know if I should ask for second opinion. Why do I have to wait?

Hey, I have experience with people who suffered from cervical spondylotic myelopathy. It is difficult evaluating the efficacy of any particular treatment strategy for cervical spondylotic myelopathy because reports show that as many as 18 % of patients improve spontaneously. The current understanding of cervical spondylotic myelopathy, unfortunately, does not allow physicians to predict the course of a patient. Also, the literature regarding various treatment strategies both surgical and non-surgical for this condition is flawed because of a lack of prospective controlled studies.
