chest pain, something caught in my throat

I am constantly spitting up mucus, dark gray in color, I also have a horrible taste in my mouth that I cannot seem to get rid of. I also have chest pain in the sternum area (not heart related). I have had 3 cases of bleeding esophageal varices, has anyone faced these systoms and what did you do.
