| My uncle has diagnosed of lupus and he is concerned if that is the acute or chronic disease? What are manifestations of chronic lupus? Is it worsening during time? Can it disappear spontaneously or with adequate therapy? I am interesting if all kinds of lupus are chronic disease or depend of clinical manifestation. |

| Chronic lupus, also known as discoid lupus erythematosus is chronic skin disorder, which causes redness, malar rash on the face in the shape of butterfly (red scaly patches on the skin), sometimes scalp or other parts of the body. Rarely, it can develop into SLE. Other possible manifestations are alopecia, nasal and vaginal ulcers and lesions on the skin. |
