| Hi, guys. My girlfriend has been suffering from Tourette syndrome and started with therapy. Her doctor suggested her some medications along with psychotherapy. One of the medications he suggested was clonidine. I would like to know something more about this, since it is used for other diseases as well. Thanks in advance. |

| Hello. Clonidine is alpha blocker. He is usually used for treating high blood pressure. He stimulates inhibitory neurons in central nervous system. He decreases tics, decreases emotional labile behavior and improves attention. However, it can have some side effects. Some of them are: drowsiness, nightmares, depression, dry mouth, bradycardia, impotence, palpitations, weight gain, etc. Constipation is also possible. I hope your girlfriend won’t feel these symptoms. Good luck! |
