My boyfriend needs to go on diet because of his cholesterol. He is only 30 and he already has this problem. My doctor said that losing only few pounds will lower his cholesterol significantly. What he can or can’t eat? Does he need any exercise too?

Beginning a regular exercise program is one of the smartest things he can do. He needs at least half hour of some activity every day. For cholesterol problem he should avoid a lot of saturated fat and sugar, and gradually increase your fiber intake. for lowering cholesterol lean meats only, do not eat any skin, most veggies are fine but concentrate on broccoli, celery, cauliflower and potato skins; stick with whole-grain breads like whole wheat or oat; eat three half-cup servings of fresh fruit every day, oatmeal is a wonderful cholesterol-lowering tool. Avoid fried, chocolate or sugary, no butter, use skim or one percent milk only and low-fat or fat free cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.
