Hi everybody! I am about to have a colectomy done in two weeks time and I was wondering if anybody knew what needs to be done before the operation and how I should prepare myself!!!
Well, before I underwent my surgery they did some blood testing. I think they wanted to know about my health condition. I also had to go to the anesthesiologist. There they asked me if I had any operations before and explained to me how anesthesia worked.
Before the op I was on clear liquid diet for the whole day but after the midnight I could take any food or liquid. One night before the surgery I took antibiotics in order to prevent infections which may occur as a result of the procedure. Good luck with your surgery!!!!
