What are the effects of combining metformin and avandia in treating patients with type 2 diabetes? Does adding avandia to metformin makes any change?

I know only what I read about this. And it is found that adding Avandia to metformin therapy had a positive effect on several metabolic deficiencies of type 2 diabetes, including insulin resistance and certain lipid parameters. Avandia specifically increased high density lipoprotein cholesterol, reduced triglycerides and significantly decreased free fatty acid levels.
