Hello! I have just started using concerta about newly diagnosed ADD. It has been 4 weeks actually and the only bad effect I have experienced is insomnia that is not so bad. There are night when I can’t fall asleep otherwise it is ok. However, I spoke to this young man who told me he had so many side effects. He spoke of increased heart rate, paranoa and aggression. I wanted to know if there were other people who also experienced these mal side effects!

My daughter had mood swings, and aggression at special occasions and when these side effects would start, we would always see her doctor. He would change the dosage then or put her on something else like paxil. I advise you to do the same if something like this happens to you too.

I started taking concerta(18 mg) in june and the only side effects I experienced were dry mouth (which led to lots of water, which led to tons of bathroom breaks) and problems sleeping. In september my dosage was increased to (36mg) and now I have noticed that sometimes I have mood swings (crying for no reason, aggresive behavior(sometimes VERY confrontational), and sometimes I am overly happy). I have also noticed that I only eat 2x a day, and I have to remind (and sometimes force) myself to eat.
Ooops almost forgot to mention the increased heart rate and my skin is now very sensitive to touch and I easily bruise.
In the last few days I have noticed that my tongue is swollen and it feel tired (like it has been lifting weights).
Hope this helps
