My daughter is diagnosed with ADHD. We found out for her disorder not so long time ago, maybe few months. When the doctor told us about it, we were really worried and sad. He recommended her to use Concerta, and she started with this therapy few days ago. I would like to know if this medicine is appropriate for this kind of disorder.

It cause impairment and were present before age 7 years. concerta is indicated as an integral part of a total treatment program for ADHD that may include other measures. Sometimes drug treatment may not be indicated for all children with this syndrome. Stimulants are not intended for use in the child who exhibits symptoms secondary to environmental factors. If this drug is appropriate for your daughter, as her doctor thought, concerta has not been systematically evaluated in controlled trials for long term used for example more then 4 weeks. She should periodically re-evaluate the long term usefulness of the Concerta. Also because of possible effects on the blood pressure it should be used cautiously with pressor agents. There were serious side effects reported in concomitant use with clonidine. So, as you can see, this drug is very commonly prescribed for ADHD.
