Hi. I'm 36 year old female and I would like to find out some stuff about one procedure. You see, about a week ago, on some regular gynecological exam, my gynecologist found out, after cervical biopsy, that I have developed some kind of precancerous condition in the cervix. When I heard this- I become very frightened because it sounded to me like I have some kind of tumor or similar. But he told me that I shouldn’t worry at all because we found it on time and schedule me on some conization procedure in three days.
I'm very scared because I don’t know anything about this and some help would be much appreciated.

Hello. I have had this conization procedure done about five years ago and before that I was diagnosed with the same condition you have now. So, I thing I could help you.
Cervical conization is both a diagnostic and treatment tool used to detect and treat abnormalities of the cervix. I really don’t know a lot about the procedure it self but I know that the conization is defined as excision of a cone-shaped or cylindrical wedge from the cervix uteri.
In most cases it is performed with simple scalpel. The parts of tissue that are being taken this way are being sent to the microscope analysis for signs of cancer. There are also some risks you should know about and the most common is abnormal bleeding.
