My husband has been complaining on itchy rectum constantly for 6 months now. He went to pharmacy and he was given a cream for hemorrhoids. It relives itching for some time but not for long. He complains that going into a toilet became more painful, even wiping. Is it possible that there is something else then hemorrhoids?

Hey, my 12 year old boy came back one summer from camp and started complaining on constant itchy rectum. First I thought that he wasn’t taking good care of hygiene in the camp. I know how boys can be careless. But it turned out that he picked up infection there. Pinworm infection, which is contagious, and it can be picked up in toilets, kitchen counters, toys, tools, sandboxes… Doctor gave him some anti-worm medicine, but we were all taking that drug. After the medicine took care of the infection itching lasted about a week after.

I had this for years....turned out not to be hemmoroids as first thought, but rather a thing called peri-anl dermatitus....a simple cream cleared it up almost immediately... |
