My bleeding has been constant for about 2 months now and I too do not have insurance to go to the doc... here are my stats
26 years old
overweight
regular period until this (like clockwork)
lots of clots, large and small
stops for 1 day or so once in a while, then comes back heavy
not sexually active
not on any medications
If you girls figure anything out... let me know, if it does not stop in a week, I am going to the GYN. I can not believe anyone can lose this much blood, crazy. |

Hi. I'm so0o surprised when I began reading this that I began to cry. I'm currently 18 and have been sexually active ((With MY ONE AND ONLY guy)) since I was 14. .. Right now I have began to worry because Since december ( We are now IN APRIL!) I have been bleeding everyday. Somedays a lot, somedays very few. Sometimes a little darker than others but NOT ONE DAY WITHOUT bleeding. I have NEVER had a regular period. Since I was ten I began skipping months, or having it for TOO LONG. Around the age of 12 doctors discovered a small cyst in my ovaries.. onein each... I took birth control. Everything was fixed. I did not take birth control EVER AGAIN after this and I have not felt any pain whatsoever in my ovaries. At times, during periods. Around last year August I stopped getting my period for almost FIVE MONTHS! When I finally got it, iy stayed for a good four days and from then IT NEVER LEFT.... It became a constand leaking and now I'm concern. I do have a doctors appointment but I'm not very encouraged because I'm a little "Overweight"... I'm sure the doctors will blame it on this.... I AM VERY SCARED! My mother, who happens to know about EVERYTHING i just commented is very worried also, she is a nurse and has NEVER HEARD OF THESE SYMPTOMS. My Boyfriend, who I've been with since I was fourteen is very worried because he has noticed a change in our sexual life since this makes me more worried. However, his worry is not about our sex, is for a future of babies.... FAR AWAY FROM NOW OF COURSE, and that I have waited tooo long to see a doctor and may be uncureable.... I worry. He is now 22 and has thought about marriage when I graduate from University which I have been attending for the past two years]]... how can this affect ALL OF OUR PLANS? How can this affect my health? Will doctors fill me up with ALL THIS BS that I know isn't going to cut it. I mean I AM WITNESSING HOW MIS-DIAGNOSED ALL OF YOU MAY HAVE BEEN AND I WORRY I MAY BE ONE OF THEM TOO!
I leave it in the hands of God and You may email me for ANYTHING or any questions I may answer from my doctors visit...

| Well, I am shocked at how many young women this is effecting. I am 22 myself and have had the same problem since I was about 18, bleeding, sometimes three months straight, followed by three months gone. And recently this past year, bleeding that does not stop for more than a couple of weeks. I have tried different herbal remedies that have bought me a week or two, including progesterone cream. The doctors casual attitudes are disturbing as well, I mean, this is debilitating. It effects our lives, our relationships, and or mental and emotional well being. I am not even sure I can have children now, which is very depressing. I just want to send you ladies a word or two of hope and encouragement, you are not alone. |

A lot of us seem to have the same story!!! But why does every doctor look at you as if you are crazy and lying? I wish i was but I try to explain the symptoms and they act as if I am making my story up. One Doctor just repeatedly asked me "You have sex" like 10 times when I was 17 and i would say no but after he listened to my stomach and demanded a pregnancy test...obiviously false. My thyroid is normal, my hormones are normal, never taken birth control in my life, and I am only 22 years old.

I'm so glad i'm not alone with this problem. I too am 22 years old and have been constantly bleeding for 6 months. I have had normal periods since I was 13 and then recently couldn't stand the spotting, severe headaches and migraines that the pill was causing me so decided to opt for the injection at my doctors suggestion.
Almost immediately I began bleeding constantly (sometimes there is a bad smell too). My family and boyfriend were very worried so after 3 months I went back to the doctor and explained what was going on.... he felt my tummy and said there was nothing wrong, it might just be a pelvic infection! Nothing wrong- I was concerned! He then advised I should carry on with the injection for a further 3 months so I did. 2 days ago I had another appt with the doctor and was determined to go in and ask for an appt with a gyno as I couldn't take it anymore. The doc wasn't concerned and has now put me on Loestrin 20 the combined pill. I'm really really scared. Please help. This forum has been such a help. |

Has anyone come up with what is causing this yet? Or how to get it under control? I have been dealing with this for 3 months now. I went to my doctor a month ago.. he put me on some pills because he thought it was a hormonal imbalance due to having my daughter 9 months ago. The thing is... after i had my daughter... my periods were SO REGULAR I knew when to expect my period... right down to the day! That was the first time my period was EVER that regular! then... when she was about 6 months old... i started spotting non stop! would only stop completely for 1-3 days a month! After he put me on these pills to help even out my hormones... the bleeding got heavier! now i have a full blown period all month... only get 1 day off of it a month now! I have spoke with a few other women and some say it could be an ovarian cyst... others say it could be fibrosis or something like that... and others say other things! Im terrified to go to the doctor about it but i knwo i need to. Yesterday i tried to call around to some Gynecologists in my area. One said she charges $150 and up for office visits (depending on what the reason for being there and treatment is).. I called some places that are "based on income" and they said i would have to gather up some paycheck stubs for proof of income... and find my denial paper from welfare... and a few other things... and even if i found all that... they couldnt get me in until mid august That is 3 weeks from now! And the one of those based on income places said that if i provide all the necessary papers and are in fact eligible... they could get me in to see a doctor in mid august... but id have to wait till december to see a gynecologist! ITS JULY!!! So, my hands are tied right now i guess. they actually said that the best thing to do for an sooner appointment would be to go back to my family doctor. Guess thats what Ill have to do. I am glad to hear i am not the only one with this problem... however i do feel for all you ladies who are goign through this as well. By the way, I too am now 24, have 2 children (2 year old boy and 9 month old girl) and my husband is also very concerned. I feel like a bad wife because I am not able to please my husband the way i should (not by my own decision... he dont like to do that when i am bleeding lol) We havent made love in a couple weeks now! Ugh, plays a toll on every aspect of your life huh? Well, i was just wondering if anyone has gone to the gyne or doctor and came up with any type of reasoning for this.
My email ***Edited By Moderator**** No private emails allowed*** Please email me if you have any questions, comments, explanations or ANYTHING on this matter! ****Edited By Moderator***** You may also IM me as well. Someone else may have responded to this already, but when I saw that you called Metformin something for fertility I had to jump out here. My mom was on it for her diabetes. Here is the definition:
GENERIC NAME: metformin BRAND NAME: Glucophage , Glucophage XR, Glumetza DRUG CLASS AND MECHANISM: Metformin is an oral medication that lowers blood glucose (sugar) and is used for treating type 2 diabetes. |

| Yes I know Metformin is for diabetes. It is also used in PCOS. People with PCOS have an insulin sensitivity and it just helps to regulate periods for us. It helped me! I am now 19 weeks pregnant with a baby girl! My son can finally have the younger sibling that I wished for him thanks to metformin. |
