constant vaginal burning during intercourse. whats wrong wit

Just curious, my problem started after I went on birth control. Did anyone else notice this too or is it just a coincidence? I used the Patch when I first went on birth control & I noticed some heart palpitations after I went off it. Then there was this whole "legal" thing on TV about the Patch so I didn't know if this could be related or if it just happened around the same time.

I have the same burning during sex that everyone has said. It is not a yeast infection b/c I have had many blood tests. I have gone to a specialist doctor at the University of North Carolina- It has a pelvic pain department. I strongly suggest to everyone on here to google a doctor's office or hospital. I was put on estrogen/ liadocane treatments which did help. I got pregnant and quit the treatments w/o going back to the doctor b/c it is an hour drive for me. After the delivery, I plan on going back. My doctor told me that it is a cycle of muscle tensing and causing the burning. I have only had sex with my husband and before we were married I was put on Yasmin birth control. I was wondering if birth control could have triggered this? Anybody elso on Yasmin?

ok I researched "Yeast Syndrome" on the web like D777 mentioned above & I found that birth control CAN cause these symptoms... Just thought you would like to know. Anyone else think that might be what it is? Yeast Syndrome?

I've been battling this burning itching sensation for 8 years now, ever since I became sexually active. While living in the USA absolutely no one could really help me, I was just constantly told that I have a yeast infection, chronic yeast infections etc. After moving to the Ukraine and an enormous amount of testing I found i had trichomonosis, chlamidia and finally, I'm guessing as a result of them all cervical erosion. In order to deal with this I had to take some heavy duty meds and now i will have to undergo a small operation while they burn or freeze off these soars. Hopefully this might help some of you. Where does all this come from though?? STDs!! So look out young people and don't fool around before you find your life partner, it's just NOT worth it!!

I found that it burns when my husband and I are using nothing, but when he puts on a condom or uses one from the start it helps--make sure it doesnt have spermicide or anything, just a regular lubricated condom, it helped us. Also, check what your husband is bathing with. For a while he was using shave gel down there and also some kinds of soap like ones for acne or antibacterial that were definitely causing burning bc there is ofcourse some residue. Now he uses dove or ivory, no shave gel down there, and witha condom it doesnt burn for us anymore!

I have done some research and it seems it is vulvodynia---look online and check it out. Most doctors dont know much about it, but there is help.

Vulvodynia is chronic discomfort or pain that's felt in the vulva. The most common symptoms are burning, stinging, irritation, aching or rawness of the genital area. The pain may be constant or it may only occur intermittently - when the vulva is touched, for example. Each woman can have different symptoms, with varying degrees of severity.
As with most chronic pain conditions, vulvodynia adversely affects quality of life. Not only can it prevent women from engaging in and enjoying sexual activity, but daily activities may also be impaired. Some women with vulvodynia are unable to exercise, for example, or drive a car. For some, even sitting becomes a challenge.
A woman with chronic vestibulitis may trace the onset of the pain to inflammation due to irritants (shampoo, soap, detergent, feminine hygiene products) or with infection (yeast, herpes, human papilloma virus) or other trauma to the tissue.
However, the symptoms can appear with no known cause or may be associated with several causes or a sequence of contributing factors, including response to medical or surgical treatments. Symptoms may also progress. The group of symptoms is classified by many names, partly because of the ways in which it may present or respond to treatment: vulvar pain syndrome, focal vulvitis, vestibular adenitis, vulvodynia, vulvar vestibulitis, or simply vestibulitis.
A surprising number of women suffer from a condition of chronic, unexplainable pain in the skin of the genitals, which has only recently begun to receive public attention and validation as a legitimate complaint. Efforts to treat the syndrome have been frustrating for women seeking relief as well as for caregivers who attempt to help them.

Also, i do use less iritants--like we only use dove soap, andwe use condoms (no spermicide, but regular with lubrication) and it helps somewhat. My husband used to use shave gel down there, and also antibacterial and sometimes acne fighting bath gel/soaps and that made it worse. I do have hpv, and i do get lots of yeast infections, which it seems can trigger this and make it worse.

Do you? HPV is very very common and most people never know they have it.

Try the condoms, reduce iritants, and check out the research and talk to your doctor about vulvodynia.

Hi Everyone~
I just found this site. I have had the same burning sensation during intercourse (entrance) for the past 4 years so I wanted to share my recent medical experiences:
I have had burning sensations and internal pain for awhile now. These symptoms have gotten steadily worse in the past few years and have also GREATLY strained my relationship. We have recently gotten married so last summer I decided to get to the bottom of the issue so I could properly enjoy my honeymoon!! To my surprise, through ultrasound and MRI, they found that I have a Uterine birth defect. From this birth defect and from hearing about my painful intercourse, my doctors greatly suspect that I may also have ENDOMETRIOSIS. Endometriosis usually causes deep internal pelvic pain but my doctor informed me that a large number of her Endo patients complain of the same exact burning sensations in the vulva area during sex!! I am getting surgery this week for my uterine defect and for the possible Endo (which they can't definitely diagnose until the surgery). My point is, definitely get tested and checked for anything and everything. Don't settle with "it's just an allergy to soap" or "it's a yeast infection". You never know if there could be a deeper, underlying issue! Best of luck to you all! I hope this surgery helps me enjoy sex more!!

Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone found a solution to the problem with the internal burning? I have been with my bf for 3.5 years and we have had this problem for about 1.5 years (around the time I went on the pill). For all the people with the internal burning issue, does it hurt when you do foreplay as well? This doesn't hurt me- it is strictly sex that hurst me.....I was also wondering if the pple with the internal burning issue noticed a correlation between this problem and the time they went on the pill?

I have had the same problem for 2 years now. I have had many exams by my ob-gyn, a urologists and my primary care doctor. They all say there is nothing wrong. I tried going to all hypoallergenic, no dyes, no perfumes. None of it has worked. When the burning starts lube doesn't make a difference, however, a washcloth with HOT water soaked and held down there helps, baking soda baths help and drinking 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 4-6 oz of water before sex will help somewhat but it takes about 20 min to work though. Hope this helps.

I am also a sufferer of this problem! I have suffered for almost 7 years, it's so frustrating, it even destroyed my marriage. I have only had 2 partners in my entire life, my first husband, and the man I currently dating. It's hard for them to cope with the problem, and I don't know what else to do. I have done research and read book upon book on Vulvadynia, and I still haven't found a way to stop the problem. After sex, I generally will soak a washcloth with warm water and use it as a compress. I try NOT to use toilet paper, as it is likely to stick and cause more irritation.

If anyone has any other suggestions, I am open to hear them!
