constant vaginal burning during intercourse. whats wrong wit

I have been with my partner for 8 years and some odd months now, neither of us have ever had any other partners before each other and while we were with each other. We have had frequent sex throughout our relationship but as of about a month ago it started to burn during sex and after. The first time I noticed it I thought that maybe it was just a small cut or tear or it was a little bit too rough and it would go away but like I said.. it has been a month now and sex isn't as frequent anymore now that it hurts. It feels like it hurts and is burning and stinging on the outside and the inside. It's just way too painful to continue intercourse. I have been on the pill for many years now and haven't recently made any changes to that so I am ruling that out. I am going to make an appointment on Monday to see my doctor to see if she can find anything or give me something that might take away that pain. If she can tell me anything I will surely let you guys know!

Hey guys, I posted on the bottom of page 4 and I wanted to let you know that I went to my OB/GYN and aksed her how to fix this. I mentioned both Volvodynia and also the fact that it seems a lot of people have this problem while on birth control, including me. The latter sparked her attention and she said that basically, birth control dries you up down there because you don't produce as much estrogen, which is why it hurts/burns during sex. She gave me Premarin estrogen cream to try and she said she is pretty certain it will help. I put my first application in last night and this morning, I already feel much less "dry," if you will. I'm glad I went to see the doc.

i went to the doctor today and they also prescribed me premarin. i hope to god it works.
i am currently taking the depo provera shot, which made me low on estrogen, thats why they gave me the cream.
i'm thinking about going off the shot now...

So, I had a lot of the same symptoms you are describing. Instense burning during sex, dryness, tenderness, no pain when peeing, no apparent lesions or cuts, free of STDs...

I didn't get any kind of discharge or "yeasty" smell, but something told me I had some kind of infection, whether yeast (thrush is the kind with the burning) or bacterial vaginosis. Both are types of infections that would cause an imbalance of the natural PH in your vagina. Oftentimes your vag becomes more acidic...which is what causes the burning. And for those of you who said your bf's/husbands feel the burning as well, this would be why...your vagina becomes more acidy.

Personally, I was mostly affected around the vulva.

Anyway, before I went to the doctor and got some kind of expensive or ridiculous pill/suppository/cream that would probably just cause you a worse infection in the future by forcing a kind immunity, I decided to do a good old fashioned kind of treatment: yogurt.

You see, this vaginal imbalance results from the rapid reproduction of bacteria that the vagina has naturally. Yogurt eats that bacteria, and restores your vagina's natural PH levels.

Now, I had my bf wrap a lubricated condom around two fingers (well trimmed fingernails important, as well as the lubricated condom since we're all tender down there at the moment) and cover them with natural, unsweetened yogurt (the bad bacteria would feast on the sugar), and then insert his fingers into my vagina and rub the stuff around as deep as possible, then work his way outward toward my vulva and outer lips. And then repeat the process for as much as yogurt would fit in there.

NATURAL, UNSWEETENED YOGURT! No strawberry flavored, or any other flavored/sweetened kinds...he inserted like half of one of those little cups. I put on some baggy, terrie cloth shorts to sleep...I had him put the yogurt in overnight so I could sleep with it inside of me. I tried to keep still in the middle of the night to avoid too much of it slipping out (although obviously some did. I recommend putting two towels underneath you during the process).

Anyway, the next day my bf and I tried sex out to see if it worked, and VOILA! I was almost back to normal! Little to no burning at all...another treatment of yogurt tonight, and I'll probably be good as new.

I also recommend eating a lot of yogurt as well...there are even some pills available that have the same good bacteria yogurt has you can take. Also, try not to eat bread or beer...or anything yeasty like that.

Well, I hope this information helps you as it certainly helped me! I found it a better alternative to expensive medicines that are so strong they could cause worse cases of thrush/bacterial vaginosis in the future by causing immunities to develop. Natural remedies are just as powerful, more sensitive, and a lot less expensive!

Yes, I had and have the exact same experience. I've had vulvodynia for 5-6 years and the symptoms began maybe 6 months or so after beginning Yasmin. It was very traumatic and I went through so many tests and everything always came back negative for STDs, yeast and bacterial infections. I, also, have only been with my husband.

It wasn't until I briefly stopped taking Yasmin that I wondered if it was my BC that was causing me all these problems. I underwent pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation at the same time that i briefly stopped taking the pill. As soon as I started taking Yasmin again to make sure my skin was clear for my wedding!, my symptoms returned.

It's amazing to see that others have had a similar experience. I've talked with many vulvodynia 'experts' and they all agree that there isn't enough evidence that birth control has any effects on vulvodynia. I think they're wrong when it comes to Yasmin.

Great for your skin! But horrible for your sex life.

I've had the same problem for over a year. I went to my doctor yesterday and he said I have some swollen glands down there. He said studies have been done and nobody knows what causes it, but he gave me some cream to apply twice a day. I start that tomorrow so hopefully it works! He said if it doesn't, he would give me some numbing cream for the glands.

Im so glad to hear that Im not the only one with this problem!!!!
I've gone to the doc. and they havent been able to help me out at all...
I have been sexually active with the same guy for 3 years now. he has been the only one that I have been with.. the weird thing is that ever since my first time I have had that burning, dry sensetion and it hurts soo much that it has made me cry so many time during and after sex. i asked my doctor and she could give me an answer. she only gave me a paptest and a bacterial swab test Sad

she only told me to go to the store and buy some probiotic acidophilus wich I bought and did nothing for me. I am really depressed because I love the pleasure of sex but it only lasts me about 10 min. after that it all goes downhill. thankfully my boyfriend is understanding and supportive but I dont want him to get tired of all this pain sex causes me Sad

Mine sounds much like the rest of yours. I have been with the same partner for two years now, and I had two others before that.

My burning is definitely on the inside, and it's not because of dryness, I know that. Lube makes it hurt exponentially worse. Usually it doesn't hurt too bad until after we're done (well, I'm done and he's still going). I can only let him continue like 30 to 45 seconds after I've finished. I didn't know if this was normal, as I'd never discussed it before.

I also notice myself getting yeast infections often. I'm kinda young, and the first one I got was in March, the second July, the third October- you get the point. I've only had one UTI, I don't know how much of this is relevant but I didn't want to leave out anything important.

However I'm not on birth control so that didn't make any difference, and this also started just a few months ago- in... March or so?

And now that I'm thinking about it it only happens when we use a condom (which honestly we don't always- as you can see it's a frig!). Anyone think it could be an allergy to latex?

I'm lost.

Hello everyone.

I just stumbled across this site and have felt some relief in hearing that I am not the only one experiencing these issues.

Just some background:
I have been sexually active for about 10 years now (I'm 27). I have been with my current partner for about a year and a half. We had "NORMAL" sex --- read: basic positions, nothing rough, etc. About a half year into our relationship, I started to feel pain during and especially after sex. It seemed like the skin at the base of my vaginal opening was tearing.
I went to three different OB-GYNs. Top doctors in Philadelphia. Always had the same response: Nothing is wrong. Use Astroglide instead of KY (Just a note: Although the extra lube did nothing to prevent tearing/burning, the Astroglide is MUCH gentler....doesn't dry up, is thicker, doesn't burn the way KY does). Etc,etc.

I finally went to a new ob-gyn (this time a DO instead of an MD) and she prescribed Premarin creme. She gave the explanation that as you age, the consistency of your secretions change, the levels in your secretions change, estrogen levels may drop due to the pill or a variety of other reasons, the skin becomes thinner, etc. etc.
She told me to try the Premarin creme for 2 weeks and then 2x/week after that and see if it "toughens" up the area. I started using it approximately four days ago.
I have not had sex with my partner in quite some time because it's been too painful and he's been too freaked out.
My GYN also reminded me that desire, and a basic readiness for sex, is so multifactorial. It's not just that you're self lubricated, it also involves an emotional readiness and if you're anticipating pain, your body IS going to be more resistant, whether you consciously recognize it or not. Also, what I found interesting, she informed me that our muscles have "memory" and if parts of our bodies are traumatized, it loses the ability to heal as quickly.
She ALSO explained to me (after I told her my frustrations with everyone turning me away and telling me nothing was wrong) that OB-GYNs do the basics. When it comes to issues like these, it is important to find specialists in sexual/pelvic pain, because they are the ones that take the more "intense" problems that that regular OB-GYNs are not equipped to handle. In Philadelphia, we have a clinic called The Pelvic and Sexual Health Institute. You could always ask your OB-GYN for a recommendation for a place such as this.

If you are still experiencing this pain, and otherwise are a pretty healthy person, bring up the topic of Premarin creme to your doctor and see where the discussion leads. It might just open up more avenues/options that perhaps your doctor has not considered.

Hope this helps.
And if anyone has used Premarin creme and noticed after effects, could you post? I'm still nervous to have intercourse, but it's really the only way to keep moving forward and seeing what works and what doesn't.

im young and i recently noticed the same problems. I just recently got a new sex partner and everything was fine until i got a uti then i started getting that raw burning feeling (inside) I thought i was allergic to latex but its not and even if im swimming in lubricant it doesnt help. Im going to go to the doctor soon, but i see alot of people on here are saying that didnt help. Many people on here are saying they have had this problem for years and im scared to think im going to be the same way. If anyone could list things that might help stop it, or could even list what it might be that would be helpful Smile
