Hello! I have difficulty with terrible pain in my hand that spreads through whole my left arm up to the shoulder. I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome and was treated on many ways. And now I’ve been advised to take cortisones. I don’t know nothing about cortisones, are they safe and how am I suppose to take them? And may this cortisones treatment be of any help?

I can tell you this cortisones thing didn’t work for my CTS meaning it helped but only temporary. As I understood cortisones are actually steroids and I was taking them in form of shots directly into my carpal tunnel. The result was effective but only for short-run. Pretty soon I realized cortisones haven’t helped me on a long-run. But maybe you may try to help yourself with these cortisones for they won’t harm you because it’s not like they have these unpleasant side-effects that steroids usually provokes. And who knows maybe in your case they might provide a permanent effect. Anyway I ended up with CTS surgery and that was a right “shot” at least for me. And besides I really hated having this ugly cortisone shots right into my hand instead I had the surgery and have my problem solved forever at least I hope so for it’s been 5 years now I haven’t felt not even a “dash” of pain.
