could neuropathy be causing skin changes

My wife has neuropathy. She is 55 years old. Now the bruises have started to appear on her left leg, and on her arm. The skin is starting to be dark then purple. Is there any connection between neuropathy and these bruises? Could neuropathy be causing skin changes? Any help would be appreciated.

As I know the neuropathy itself doesn't cause the skin changes, but I am not a doctor. One thing cross my mind. You did not say which kind of neuropathy your wife has. If she has peripheral neuropathy then she has probably hurt her self and she is not aware because of numbness in her nerves. I have also heard that diabetes and peripheral vascular disease could make the skin changes, check that.
