Hi, I have heard about the positive effects that cycling can have on your health. I was so impressed that I decided to start cycling myself. I went to buy a bike and that is when my troubles started. The seller in the store tried to be helpful but he only confused me. I just did not know that there are so many types of bikes and accessories. I left the store dizzy and I didn't buy anything. Can you tell me what the essentials that I need to buy are? I don't intend to train for Tour de France; I just want to have some fun.

Hi, I know that buying sport equipment can be a stressful experience especially if you don't know what you are looking for. For cycling there is a large list of basics that you will need to buy in order to be safe on the road. First of all you will need a properly fitting helmet. For your hands padded cycling gloves will give you that extra firm grip. Glasses are an essential for eye protection against the wind when you are achieving great speed. I suppose that you are aware of the necessity of cycling shirt, shorts and shoes. A water bottle can be useful. Now these items are absolutely essentials but a couple more things you will find useful when cycling. A pump, tool box and lights are some of them.
