well about 8 months ago i shaved my groin and i had a very large ingrown hair. it turned into a large painful bump that rose about 1/4" above the skin and was about 1/4" wide. it went away a few weeks later, than recently, 2 weeks ago, the same thing is happening, except i didnt shave, and now there is a large bump, at first that contained pus, but now is very swollen and very very painful, and red. i dont know what this could be. but i got checked a month ago and everything turned out fine. so im extremely confused.... HELP!!
It sounds like an infected pore. It's fairly common in the groin area because the pubic hair pores can receive a lot of friction. Also, shaving opens up the pores and makes it easier for bacteria to creep in. You're probably fine.
