My daughter who is ten told me she had blood in her urine two nights ago. I asked her to show me this next time she pees, and I confirmed it. I took her to a doctor straight away and they assigned her for Cystscopy. What exactly is this procedure and will my daughter be in any pain? Thank you

This procedure is used to look for problems inside the bladder. It can be used for biopsy as well to take parts of tissue if needed to have them checked at labs. An endoscope is used for performing this task. It is a tube that has camera and light on it. Your daughter will be given general anesthesia and she will be asleep during the procedure. She will be also given a medications that should relieve any discomfort she may feel after cystoscopy. They will be injected rectally while she is asleep.
