My husband was drinking for over the 15 years. He was drinking enormous quantity of beer during the day, and he was drunk almost every day. I have managed to persuade him to go to alcohol rehabilitation therapy. He did that because me and our kids. Now he is experiencing delirium tremors. Why is that?

Delirium tremors are the usual effect of an alcohol withdrawal. During his drinking he was poisoning his body. There are toxic effects of alcohol on the brain and nervous system. That is why the delirium tremors occur. The involuntary shake of the body or the limbs is just one of many possible symptoms of alcohol withdrawal, but it is not life treating and it will pass.
