I am so glad I found this site! I had my first depo shot in January 11th 2008. At first I went to the health center to get a prescription for birth control pills , I didn't even know that depo existed...but one of the nurses talked me into that shot!Since then I have had so many problems. First of all Zero libido !! and when I felt like having intercourses I would be dry like never in my life! I had a yeast infection for the first time of my life too. In the beginning of february, I had that typical light brownish spotting for about 8 days,( my regular period didn't last that long) then it stopped. and since the end of feb I have been having the same thing, but this time it won't stop! plus backhache, headache, sleepless nights, sore joints mostly the hips, and I feel depressed, I wake up in the morning wanting to cry. When I told my boyfriend that I had the depo shot instead of a birth control pill prescription, he got mad at me,told me I shouldn't have listened to that nurse, but it was too late.
We haven't had any intimate moment for about 1 month and a half now and He's starting to be really frustrated. I'm not having a second depo shot for sure!! But I would like to stop the bleeding/spotting and get my sexual life back to normal !! I tried to call the gynecologist for an appointment but she hadn't called back yet, I'm still waiting, I hope she has a solution for me because I read in one of th depo topics that the bleeding/spotting can last for months, It will ruin my relationship for sure!! I don't want to lose my love just because I had one stupid shot!! |

I recieved my first Depo Vera SHOT on JAN 30, the very first day after i recieved the shot I woke up to horribly sore muscles and intense back pain! I felt like I had ran a marathon the day before! A month after that I began to spot and that lasted for 3 1/2 weeks! I got the shot so I wouldnt have a period and now I bleed for months at a time! My doctor said it was normal but I beg to differ. Needless to say I will not go back for another shot. |

| I had my 1st shot in dec'06 after the birth of my son then bled constantly for 6 months!! I then had no period for nearly a year with no other side effects, but then to my horror I started experiencing the most awful migranes with aura and my libido disappeared through the floor. I was told by my gp to stop the depo vera, but within 3 days of my "due shot" I started bleeding and still haven't stopped 4 months later! Thankfully the migranes have stopped, but my I'm still awaiting the return of my libido, thankfully really as bleeding is V.heavy! |

Well I started Depro Vera last year and after two shot I stopped.
i started in march and soon after about a month later i bled for two months straight constant spotting
Pain so bad i couldnt move and its still happeneing. I still have pain now being a year after my last shot Ive missed my period twice every pregnacy test i take says negative
Cramps like you wouldnt believe and my back kills me all the time im always nauseous when i wake up and my nipples always hurt
i hate that shot and nows theres stress on me and my boyfriend because besides on the depo (which as soon as i stopped my periods were normal again) ive never missed a period and ive missed two so we think im pregnant but with all the things ppl say i just think the depo messed me up what do you think |

| I was on Depo from 2/03- 02/08. I decided after all the weight gain I would get off it and try something else. I am currently on Lybrel. I was doing fine in Feb and March. In April I had a 3 week period. I May I had a 3 week period. In June I had a 3 weekd period. In July I had an entire month period and I still have it in Aug. It is not heavy. It's brownish and gross. I want this to go away alredy. It is pissing me off. I want to have sex with my new boyfriend, but am afraid he will get grossed out by the brown yuck inside of me. I don't know how much longer I will have to have this for. I wish I would have known this could happen cause I would have never started the damn crap. This is not worth it. I'll take 4 day periods any time over this. |

i am only 17 and i was on depo for a year, it was horrible. i had no choice really for birth control other than depo due to medical concerns. But i was never fully informed about what it would to do me. i went CRAZY i had anxiety so bad that i couldn't get my license i had to b in constant contact with my friends and family so that i could function knowing that they were ok. i had to be put on countless other drugs for the anxiety, slepplessness and depression. I had NO sex drive so to me that was birthcontrol enough and i gained a bunch of weight(i dont know how much because i refuse to step on a scale) Now that i have been off it for 3 months i am no long crazy but i am getting my period every 2 weeks i feel like im going to be sick all the time, im still not sleeping, and my joints hurt. At first i thought that now that i was off the depo all of these were unrelated but after reading this i regret even more that i agreed to that stupid shot it was the stupidest thing i have EVER done.
PLEASE DO NOT GO ON DEPO!!! |

my first depo shot was july 07,second shot july 08...yeah 1 year later.im due for my 3rd in sept. but recently i have been having alot of pain in my legs. they feel like no circulation in them, my legs get blotchy and my feet also turn bright red sometimes. i have been having alot of shoulder, neck, back and arm pains.mostly where my joints are.i read that if you have delt with depression it is not a good idea to take depo. i have battled with it since i was 13 and i am bipolar. so recently before i took my shot, i realized i wasnt having sever mood swings like i do now. i like the depo only because i have no periods. and i also have bads pains and tightining muscle aches in my wrists. i have calcium pills but i have not taken them like i should everyday. i know i need to make it an important evryday habbit.but i was wondering if anyone else has these symptoms and if it could be bad bad signs of osteoperosis? |

| I too am experiencing all the symptoms everyone has described. I have been on Depo for the past eight months. I am leery about about tryin a new type of BC. I don't like the hassle of remembering to take a pill everyday and the hate the feeling of nervousness if I forget a day. What are some alternatives? What BC have you switched to after stopping Depo? |
