Hello. I have a grandfather who has mild dementia. He is 74 years old and he is very depressed because he knows that he forgets stuff all of the time. Sometimes people don't like that about him, so he gets even more depressed. That is to bad. I try to cheer him up but it doesn't works that way. What to do?

I know that the situation may seem hopeless at the moment, but you mustn't loose hope. All your grandfather needs is a bit of support. Put yourself in his position. Life can sometimes be a drag. If some of your fellow housemates are mistreating him in any way, they should be advised not to do so. It isn't very nice, and it may hurt his feelings. So, all he need is just support.
