There are three options regarding gallstones: removal of the gallbladder, removal of the stones and do nothing but sit, wait and observe if the stones would pass or dissolve.
Analysis and data from previous cases, show that the best outcomes had those children who had their gallbladders removed. Children, who only had stones removed, suffer stone recurrence most of the time, which may again lead to gallbladder removal after all.
Those children who had the gallbladders removed suffered no further problems and had no other symptoms after the removal. In the long-run, it is said that the gallbladder removal is the best option. Of course you need to discuss this with your own doctor who can make the best suggestions according to your individual case.
