discoid lupus

I have heard for different kind of lupus but I am very interesting about discoid lupus. My first door neighbor avoids sunlight and wears hat all the time. My friends told me that he is suffering from discoid lupus and I want to learn about it. Does it affect only white skin?

Discoid lupus (DLE) is a chronic skin disease present as inflammations and scarring. It affect on face, scalp, ears and rarely on other parts of body. It develops as a red patch with inflammation. It is probably an autoimmune disease, but no relevant evidence has been found yet. Patients are usually sensitive to sunlight and there is need to wear a UV blocking cream and a hat.
