Hi, I am mother of 9 years girl who is acting strangely sometimes. I have noticed her specific behavior when she is overwhelmed by some specific situation. She is acting like she is in her dream world. I am afraid that my girl is suffering from some autistic disorder and I am thinking about taking her to the psychiatrist. Please tell me if someone had similar experiences.

Hi, it is hard to say what may cause such behavior of your child but also it doesn't mean that she is autistic or something similar. It may be dissociative behavior when child feels that can't find exit from such situation she is escaping into her world of fantasy where she feels safe and secure. You may bring her to the doctor or psychologist to discus if she has some specific problem.
