HI. I’ve recently been diagnosed with diverticlar disease. It has not turned into diverculitis yet and my doc prescribed some meds to help me. I’m interested in diverticlar treatments because I don’t think that the one my doc prescribed really works. Thanks for all comments.

There are several possible medical treatments you could try. First one is over-the-counter fiber supplements (Citrucel, Fibercon and Metamucil). Also, some really serious cases may be treated with prescription drugs such as Ancef, Mandola and Amikin usually in combination with some painkillers like Tylenol with Codeine, Vicodin, Lortab or Percocet. If you have bleeding diverticula the best treatment is Injections of Vasopressin. Finally, giant diverticula always require surgery.
