i had an anal fissure 6 weeks back. it is still there and i am using Glyceral trinitrate cream for it. There is no pain but there is some discharge, mucus or yellow and a painless but uncomfortable nodule nehind where the fissure was. there is no pain when passing stools or sitting. do i need surgery?
worse case scenario--you may have an abscess. Apparently, they are fairly common because fissures often get infected. your doctor can drain this for you. don't let them talk you into getting antibiotics. antibiotics are rarely effective for treating such abscesses.
best case scenario--its just a skin tag, bascially scar tissue built up from the healing process of the fissure.
