My son suffers from gastroenteritis. He is only 10 years old. He has episodes of severe vomiting. He is in danger of becoming dehydrated. I must do something to prevent this. My husband has heard about ondansetron that it is great drug for vomiting control. Does a single oral dose of ondansetron control vomiting with minimal side effects?

This medicine is very powerful. It is being used in people that are going to chemotherapy to decrease vomiting and nausea that often follow the radiation. My father use it and I can say that one dose can be enough to put vomiting under control. There is some possibility for side effects but they didn't appear at my father. This medicine is, based on one research, well suited for use in emergency department.
