Posted: 12/09/07 - 18:35 Post subject: It could be related to candida |
| I'm no expert but I have the same pain and the little research I've been doing leads me to think its related to an overgrowth of Candida. I'm trying a Candida diet to see if goes away (its really hard). |

I found this topic because I got desperate and did a google search asking "is it possible to have ear pain from drinking alcohol?" For a long time my pain was diagnosed as "swimmer's ear" but I finally realized it's tied directly to drinking wine. The pain fits the description of swimmer's ear, but after drinking quite a lot of wine for a few months (my beau is in the wine business and we were on a program of tasting a lot of wines from different countries -- a tough job but someone etc.) I went to visit my teetotal family, had not a drop to drink for two weeks, and no pain at all. On the train coming home, glass of wine and presto! Earache.
It's great to know I'm not imagining this. Also I will try the Vit. C or candida-controlling approach and see what happens. |

| So I have been researching this but along with ear pain, I also get neck pain. The only related thing I can find is a type of lymphoma. This is a bit of a concern for me as I have been having a problem with low vitamin d for a while. I was wondering if any one else had both ear and neck pain. |

| I haven't been having ear pain at all but I have been having neck pain. Almost going on 3 years now if you can believe it. It first started with drinking alcohol, now it stays even if I haven't been drinking for a month. My doctors haven't been able to explain the cause. I hope anyone has any info on this |

I experience the same problem too, I am feeling it right now actually. It's not that severe as some of the other forumers explained but it sure is quite annoying. It's hard to point out to the exact source location, but kind of behind and under the ears, where the corners of the jaw meets the neck. I get mine mostly from drinking beer, and it usually starts after the second or third longneck. I only drink well-known high quality brandnames like Heineken, Dos Equis and Budweiser so I don't think it's purity related at all.
The pain lasts about an hour or two and then slowly fades away. While it's there its intensity increases and drops as time goes by and as I move my jaw. Yawning becomes a lot harder without really feeling something, as if some glands are getting really tense and tight and almost ready to snap. It's hard to explain.
Even though there seems to be a lot of us who experience this problem, it's unfortunately quite hard to find convincing, conclusive, professional medical information on this. I haven't tried Vitamin C treatment but sounds like that's just a temporary relief for the immediate symptoms and not a long-term cure. Besides I know I don't have Vitamin C deficiency because I also love and eat a lot of fruits, mainly oranges.
If/when I find out what the whole deal is, I'll come back here and post what I know.
Wish you all good luck. |

I usually feel the pain instantly after taking a bite of cheese, but it goes away almost instantly as well.
I have TMJ issues.
Today after having wings (with lemon pepper), dill flavoured fries and a heineken, the pain lasted for about 45 minutes.
Seems to happen when eating things that cause extra saliva.
-Hope this post lands a google searcher looking for certain food keywords the same way it did for me. |

| The alcohol content would affect a bone in ear. This bone is responsible for the posture of human. This bone only keeps us steady on foot, and save us from falling. Alcohol affects the bone, that causes the instability for us after drinking alcohol. This may be the reason for the irritation in the ear after alcohol. |
