Hi! I'm 38 and I'm diabetic. I heard a many stories about diabetic nephropathy. I'm really afraid that I have this awful disease. I know that the diagnosis is suspected when a urine test shows too much protein in the urine. But does anybody can tell me what the early indicators of diabetic nephropathy are, please? Thanks!

Hi! The things you need to know is that diabetic nephropathy does not occur in all diabetics, and the risk of diabetic nephropathy is greater in those diabetics who have high blood pressure. Diabetic nephropathy has no symptoms throughout its early course. In late stages the most usual symptoms are swelling, headaches, fatigue, nausea and itching.
