effexor and side effects and libido and relationship problem

Hello! I an 32 years old woman, I am married, and have a successful carrier. But this sort of success doesn’t make one immune to depression. I have been on effexor for 8 months now, and I am really enjoying it because it has improved my mood quite much. However, effexor has decreased my libido, and left me “orgasmless”. I can honestly say this is incredibly annoying especially because my partner and I had a very rich love life. This started to influence our relationship, bc when we would start I would lose interest and if I didn’t lose interest it would take me ages to have an orgasm. My husband seems to have a problem with is and is being more distant each day. What should I do?

Hi there! First thing you need to do is talk to your husband about the support you need at the moment from him. Second, you can always go to the doctor who prescribed effexor to you and see if there is something you can do to treat this side effect if not, maybe you can find another suitable drug that won’t diminish your sexual desire.
