I have been talking to my friend about hymen. We are 16 year-old girls with no sexual experience, so I guess it is normal we want to know something like this. We know hymen is membrane in female vagina, which is perforated with first sexual intercourse. What we want to know is it truth hymen is elastic; any will not be broken immediately during first sex. Also, we want to know is it elastic enough to stay whole after using tampons.

Hymen does notusually cover the entire vaginal opening. It grows out of the perineum region and extends upward, leaving a small opening. The small opening is absolutely necessary because without it, a woman’s monthly menstrual flow would have no place to exit the womb. Unfortunately, nature itself overlooks this fact from time to time, leading to a need for surgical intervention. That would literally be cutting an opening into the fused flesh of the faulty or “imperforate” female elastic hymen. Without surgery, the clotted blood builds up in the woman’s uterus and vagina, eventually leading to pain, swelling, infection, and even death. While “imperforate” hymens are rare, it is extremely common for hymens to vary in size, thickness and shape. A modern version of the story claims that tampon use is the culprit. The latter is actually not all that ridiculous since the act of inserting the tampon can involve a certain amount of gentle pressure being placed against the hymen. It has been said how, by the inserting fingers, or with each tampon insertion, leading to a more elastic, pliable hymen that would not tear at intercourse.
