Use

This study provides evidence that radiosensitization by 5-fluorodeoxyuridine is in part due to alteration of cell kinetics and redistribution of cells throughout the cycle.
5-Fluorodeoxyuridine is being used in patients with colorectal carcinoma, whereas Ara-C is one of the most effective agents in the treatment of hematological malignancies.
5-Fluorodeoxyuridine is not incorporated into DNA of these cells; only the second mechanism of induction of alkali-labile DNA is detected.
5-Fluorodeoxyuridine is converted to 5-fluorodeoxyuridine monophosphate by thymidine kinase (26).
Because 5-fluorodeoxyuridine is not available in Japan, we used 5-FU instead.
