Angioedema is an at best an uncomfortable and disfiguring type of temporary swelling, and at worst a life-threatening one.
Angioedema is not always itchy and can sometimes be painful.
Angioedema is a problem that relates to the specialty of otolaryngology because its symptoms manifest most often in the head and neck, often in dramatic form.
Angioedema is a skin reaction similar to hives or urticaria.
Angioedema is associated with urticaria in about 40% of cases or occurs on its own in 10% of cases.
Angioedema is the swelling that usually occurs beneath the skin instead of on the surface.
The most common symptoms of angioedema are deep swelling around the eyes and lips and sometimes of the hands and feet.
