Facts (generated by robot; please edit if you find it inaccurate)

  • The fatty acid arachidonate is frequently esterified at the hydroxyl on C-2 of glycerophospholipids, especially phosphatidyl inositol, shown at right with arachidonate in blue.
  • Relaxation of guinea-pig tracheal smooth muscle to arachidonate is converted to contraction following epithelium removal.
  • Ethyl arachidonate is the predominant fatty acid ethyl ester in the brains of alcohol-intoxicated subjects at autopsy.
  • Arachidonate is 20:4 ( 5, 8, 11, 14 ) in the shorthand notation for unsaturated fatty acids.
  • Arachidonate is released from action of phospholipase A2 or phospholipase C on specific phospholipids (Called Stage 1 of synthesis).
