Use

The Arachnoid—The arachnoid is a delicate membrane enveloping the brain and medulla spinalis and lying between the pia mater internally and the dura mater externally; it is separated from the pia mater by the subarachnoid cavity, which is filled with cerebrospinal fluid.
The arachnoid is loosely applied to the brain and is normally almost transparent.
The space between the dura and the arachnoid is known as the subdural space.
On the upper surface of the cerebrum the arachnoid is thin and transparent, and may be easily demonstrated by injecting a stream of air beneath it by means of a blowpipe; it passes over the convolutions without dipping down into the sulci between them.
The blood supply for the arachnoid is the circumferential branches of arteries.
