Aspirin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) effective in treating fever, pain, and inflammation in the body.
Aspirin is also very good at bringing down temperatures in people who have an elevated temperature (fever).
Today, aspirin is actually prescribed under its various generic and name brands for its heart-healthy effects.
Because there appears to be a connection between aspirin and Reye's syndrome, aspirin is no longer used to control flu-like symptoms in minors.
