Atelectasis

Used for

collapse of all or part of a lung due to bronchial plugging or the chest cavity being opened to atomspheric pressure.

Etiology In adults, the chief cause of acute or chronic atelectasis is intraluminal bronchial obstruction, often due to plugs of tenacious bronchial exudate, endobronchial tumors, granulomas, or foreign bodies.
