  • Bleeding can be defined as the loss of blood from the body.
  • The cause of bleeding may not be serious, but locating the source of bleeding is important.
  • If your bleeding is heavy, your doctor may want to check your blood count to make sure you don't have anemia (low iron) from the blood loss.
  • Prolonged bleeding is the hallmark of hemophilia A and typically occurs when an infant is circumcised.
